    Peoria, IL

    Nestled along the Illinois River, Peoria is the oldest European settlement in Illinois. Ever since the city was founded in 1691, residents have treasured their Peoria homes.     Peoria, Illinois is a great place to work. The city is the world headquarters for the Caterpillar Inc, one of the 30 companies composing the Dow Jones Industrial Average. Peoria also is well known for its medical facilities, home of 3 major hospitals, a Children's Hospital, and a St. Jude Affiliate. The USDA's National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research is also located in Peoria, the lab where mass production of penicillin was developed. Peoria is also known for having some of the finest education in the state of Illinois. The city even has several colleges, universities, and even a College of Medicine that is attached to the University of Illinois.
